Emergency General Surgery Advanced Practice Provider

Inova Surgery is looking for a full-time General Surgery APP to join our Willow Oaks Surgery office. Additionally, opportunities for Sign-On, Retention RelocationCommitted to Team Member Health: offering medical, dental and vision coverage, and a robust team member wellness program.Retirement: Inova matches the first 5% of eligible contributions - starting on your first day.Mental Health Support: offering all Inova team members, their spouses/partners, and their children 25 mental health coaching or therapy sessions, per person, per year, at no cost.Work/Life Balance: offering paid time off, paid parental leave, flexible work schedules, and remote and hybrid career opportunities.Surgery Advanced Practice Provider Job Responsibilities:Respond to emergent/urgent care needs for patients within scope of practiceProvide first response coverage while on dutyPerform initial assessment of general surgery consults, report findings and implement a treatment plan with the appropriate general surgery attending physician, as necessaryElicit a detailed health history and a perform physical examinationAdmit patients to the serviceOrder and expedite any necessary diagnostic studies, initiate necessary consultations, provide preoperative risk assessment, and post patients for surgery and other proceduresPerform general surgery bedside procedures as requested on admitted and emergency department/observation patients within scope of practiceIrrigation and debridement of open woundsApplication of simple and complex wound dressings and coveragesManagement of drainsPerform daily assessments of all patientsAssist in appropriate discharge dispositionDocument patient encounters, both initial and subsequent visitsCommunicate effectively with the attending physician and other caregiversParticipate in morning report and sign out sessionsActively participate in special projects as deemed necessary by the Chief of General Surgery and Lead APP.Review and assist with the development and implementation of policies, protocols, guidelines, and procedures related to general surgery care and systemwide initiatives as directedDemonstrate compliance with systemwide and departmental policies, procedures, and mandatory education requirementsPerform assigned work safely, adhering to established department safety rules and practices; Completion of a master's degree program as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or completion of a Physician Assistant program.
