Job Overview Title: Materials EngineerII – Onsite position in Tucson, AZ, requiring U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret security clearance obtained and maintained after day 1.

Responsibilities Work with subject‑matter experts in ceramics and other materials, supporting processing and characterization.

Collect and compile data and observations/results to report to internal and external customers.

Collaborate independently or with teams to solve materials challenges.

Manage and coordinate simultaneous tasks within set schedule requirements.

Travel as needed to support programs and work with vendors.

What You Will Learn Advanced materials, including ceramics and composites, and their uses.

Characterization and evaluation of various materials, measuring mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties.

Selection of the correct material for specific applications and troubleshooting material-related failures.

Working with suppliers to support manufacturing efforts.

The maturation and development process of materials within Raytheon.

Material challenges related to high temperature applications and opportunities to work on new solutions.

Qualifications University degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field.

Experience in ceramics, coatings, or composite materials.

Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science/Engineering, Ceramics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.

Experience working on Defense‑industry programs, projects, or products.

Strong verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to interact with cross‑functional teams.

Analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to work both independently and in groups with guidance from senior colleagues.

Multi‑tasking capability in a fast‑paced environment.

Experience with mechanical and/or chemical analysis methods and characterization techniques.

Ability to write concise technical reports summarizing analyses.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Benefits Salary range: $68,900 – $131,100 (USD).
