Lifeguard / No Experience Required

Lifeguard PositionUnder the supervision of the Head Lifeguard and Assistant Aquatics Coordinator, performs basic lifeguard duties, general pool maintenance, and customer service.Essential Job DutiesThe following tasks are essential for this position. Incumbents in this classification may not perform all of these tasks, or may perform similar related tasks not listed here.Supervises and monitors patrons.Provides explanations and clarifications of aquatic procedures.Enforces aquatic rules and regulations.Encourages awareness of aquatic rules and regulations.Rescues swimmers in distress.Administers First Aid and/or CPR, if needed.Assist with general pool maintenance and clean-up of aquatics facility and restrooms.Participate in meetings and training sessions.Performs other related duties, as assigned.Minimum Knowledge, Skill and AbilityKnowledge of:Basic lifeguard skills.Skill and Ability to:Provide exceptional customer service.Perform physical water test indicating competence of rescuing skills.Stay alert and attentive and assert good judgment.Remain patient and understanding in dealing with patrons of all ages.Maintain open lines of communication.Training and Experience:No prior experience necessary.Desired QualificationsDesired qualifications include current CPR, 1st Aid and Lifeguarding Certifications.BenefitsThis position is a temporary position and not eligible to participate in any benefit programs of the City, except those mandated by federal or state law. Must participate in a PARS Alternative Retirement System 457 Plan as a replacement for Social Security.
