Estimator - Construction Subcontractor

Staab Construction is seeking an Estimator to join our growing team. We have estimating opportunities within our Earthwork, Building, and Mechanical divisions, offering a variety of challenging projects across Wisconsin and the Midwest.

The Estimator plays a key role in securing profitable work by developing accurate and competitive project estimates, coordinating bid efforts, and building strong relationships with owners, suppliers, subcontractors, and industry partners.

What You’ll Do Review plans, specifications, and bid documents.

Perform quantity takeoffs and detailed cost estimates.

Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.

Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontract pricing.

Coordinate and lead all phases of the bidding process.

Participate in pre‑bid meetings and site visits.

Prepare bid proposals and estimate reviews.

Support negotiated and design‑build project opportunities.

Assist Project Managers with project turnover and change order pricing.

Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and owners.

What We’re Looking For Experience in construction estimating, project engineering, project management, or a related construction role.

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. Technical degree plus experience will be considered.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

Knowledge of construction means, methods, and costs.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software.

Experience in earthwork, commercial building, industrial, mechanical, municipal, or water/wastewater construction is a plus.
