Cleanroom Laboratory Process EngineerDepartment: Research Operations & LabsSalary Range: $87,000 DOQPay Basis: MonthlyPosition Status: Regular full-timeLocation: Under the direction of the Director of the Cleanroom Research Laboratory, the Process Engineer will develop and facilitate various thin-film process development/flows and device fabrication, train, and support users in the UTD Cleanroom Research Laboratory. The Process Engineer will work with other cleanroom staff to support the daily operation and maintenance of the laboratory. The candidate will be responsible for supporting and troubleshooting equipment and process issues related to plasma etch, CVD tools, atmospheric furnaces, other thin-film deposition process tools as needed, and various thin-film characterization tools. The candidate will also be assisting in interactions with faculty, students, and staff to identify cleanroom capability requirements to support ongoing and future research projects.Minimum Education and Experience: Master's degree (Doctorate degree preferred) in engineering or the natural sciences and 6 months of related work experience. Hands-on experience as part of Graduate research is acceptable.Doctorate in engineering or the natural sciences and 4+ years of relevant experience. Required Skills: Ability to work independently on various process and metrology tools used in cleanroom/semiconductor research laboratory involving inorganic and organic materials/thin films. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.Support operation and maintenance of plasma etch tools, CVD tools, and atmospheric furnaces. Take ownership of equipment to ensure the equipment is maintained and operates within specifications. Create instrument operation manuals as needed to help users navigate complex instruments. Assist in start-up of new tools and other activities as needed to sustain operation of the Cleanroom. Work with and/or around chemicals (solids, liquids and gases).
