Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Float

Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience. Epic experience is preferred but not mandatory. Weekend shifts are required, equal to one per week of contact. Candidates may be assigned to any medical surgical unit in the system. Caring for boarding medical surgical patients in the emergency department may also be expected. The position may include various patient diagnoses such as COPD, stroke, total joint surgery, sepsis, colorectal surgery, bariatric surgery, pneumonia, trauma, altered mental status, renal failure, bowel obstruction, oncology, and withdrawal. Candidates should be experienced with managing chest tubes, central lines, medications, and various medical equipment. Responsibilities include administering IVs, blood products, and managing other patient care activities. Candidates must be comfortable floating to different departments as necessary based on facility needs. Clinical support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Daily patient care involves a diverse range of age groups including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The position may involve daily interaction with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care.
