We are recruiting two (2), regular, full-time positions located in Salem, OR (4190 Aumsville Hwy SE). Perform a wide variety of custodial duties at the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training. Duties may include but are not limited to cleaning windows and door glass, emptying and cleaning of cigarette urns, cleaning of loading dock area, and weather-related duties during inclement weather. Strip and wax hard surface floors and clean carpets as requested with appropriate equipment.
Clean office building - remove trash and recycle paper from centralized locations in each building, empty trash from outside receptacles, sweep/damp mop hard floors, vacuum/clean stairwells, vacuum/spot clean carpets, dust/remove cobwebs, clean vents, clean and sanitize counters, tables, and sinks in break rooms, workstations, and conference rooms. Perform event set up and take downs for graduations, meetings, and events for the agency and other groups, including setting up chairs, tables, and trash cans. The Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) oversees the development of professional standards and the delivery of quality training for law enforcement officers, corrections officers, parole and probation officers, firefighters, telecommunicators, and emergency medical dispatchers. DPSST is also the regulatory agency that enforces employment and training standards for the above-listed public safety disciplines and licenses proprietary security managers, security contractors and officers, polygraph examiners, and private investigators.

You will be automatically enrolled into the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) program. Employees who are Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay a 6% employee contribution to PERS; Experience that included operating equipment similar to, or needed to, perform custodial duties.
Ability to push/pull heavy equipment and objects, crouch, stoop, bend, and stand/walk while operating equipment for extended periods of time.
Due to proximity to and handling of confidential CJIS information, the final candidate must be able to pass a CJIS clearance check.

Successful candidates selected to move forward will meet the minimum qualifications and present the requested skills/desired attributes within their application material and application questionnaire. Note: You do not need to have all of these qualities to be eligible for this position.
Training or experience in a hospitality (campus, hotel, hospital, etc.) Professional cleaning experience in floor care including carpet, linoleum, wood, and slate maintenance/cleaning.
Experience using a wide variety of janitorial/custodial equipment.
Experience handling and application of janitorial/custodial supplies and chemicals.
Customer service experience, skills, and knowledge.
This position requires the ability to perform prolonged physical labor, walk, bend, stoop, and climb in the performance of duties. Standing and walking during entire shift on cement, tile, and carpeted surfaces. May require occasional, short-term periods of heavy physical activity. Daily use of chemicals for sanitation. Receives periodic work-related instruction and follows prudent safety practices in performance of all work activities.
