Who you are: You appreciate a combination of field and office work. In your personal life you enjoy outdoor excursions whether it be backpacking, hiking, hunting, skiing, etc. You tend to have a penchant for numbers: thinking in ratios, distributions or how a series of measurements would look graphically. You may have a 2- or 4-year college degree in forestry or a related field in Natural Resources with experience in timber cruising, vegetation surveys, ArcMap, and remote sensing technologies.

What the job is: The Inventory Forester plays a key role in maintaining the forest inventory information that supports sustainable forest management across Green Diamond's California timberlands. This position combines fieldwork, data analysis, mapping, and technology to collect, evaluate, and maintain information about forest growth, composition, and condition. Responsibilities include designing and implementing timber cruises, utilizing GIS and remote sensing technologies, reviewing inventory data, and collaborating with forestry professionals to ensure accurate and reliable inventory information is used for management decisions.

Stand delineation using aerial photographs, drone-acquired imagery along with LiDAR and other remote sensing technologies.

Update stand typing and harvest history information using GIS software.

Prepare accurate maps and supporting materials.

Communicate effectively with internal departments, forestry consultants, and and contractor personnel.

The Planning and Inventory team supports long-term forest management by maintaining reliable information about forest conditions, growth, and composition. We support one another's professional growth and work closely with colleagues across departments to help achieve Green Diamond's long-term forest management objectives.

You will work at our offices located in Humboldt County in Korbel which is along the northern California coast. Hourly wage range with progression levels: $Other rewards include eligibility to receive an annual company-wide financial bonus and the opportunity to receive a bonus based on your personal performance.
