RN - Registered Nurse - ICU - Neurology (Weekend Position)

Pediatric Cardiac ICU Registered Nurse (PCICU RN)We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Cardiac ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2 years experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), with at least 1 year in a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU).ResponsibilitiesProvide critical care for mixed PICU/PCICU patients, predominantly focusing on cardiovascular and thoracic cases.Administer care for patients with congenital heart defects, post-operative cases, and other complex conditions.Utilize aseptic and sterile techniques during patient care, including dressing changes and management of central lines.Oversee ventilator management, tracheostomy care, and other respiratory interventions.Assist with the management of G/GJ/J-tubes, NG tubes, chest tubes, epidurals, and PCA pumps.Perform patient discharges and facilitate a smooth transition for patients and their families.Engage in critical thinking and effective time management to ensure optimal patient outcomes.Collaborate with ECMO specialists for patients requiring ECMO treatment.Provide care for patients undergoing continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) if prior experience is available.Float to MedSurg, ED, or NICU as needed.QualificationsMinimum of 2 years of experience in a PICU, with at least 1 year in a PCICU.Current BLS and PALS certifications required.Experience with cardiac patients, surgeries, and related diagnoses.Proficiency in management of various patient types, including neuro, surgical, and respiratory cases.Preferred experience with ECMO and peritoneal dialysis, but not required.Excellent soft skills: quick learner, critical thinker, and engaged team player.Work EnvironmentThis position is predominantly focused on providing care for PCICU patients, with a mixture of general PICU patient care. The average census is approximately 10-11 patients per day in a facility that features a total of 152 beds and 22 PICU beds.Additional InformationUse of EPIC electronic medical records (EMR) preferred.Weekend rotation is required every other weekend unless additional requests are made.Shift times are from 07:00 to 19:30 and 19:00 to 07:30.Scrub color is any solid professional color without graphics or logos.
