RN - Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct nursing care to residents in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) under the supervision of the Director of Nursing (DON), Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), and Nurse Supervisors. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality resident care, accurate documentation, and compliance with facility policies and state regulations. RNs also supervise Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), ensuring effective teamwork and continuity of care. Duties and responsibilities will be completed while demonstrating behaviors that align with our Community’s Service Excellence philosophy and core values.

Provide direct nursing care to residents, including medication administration, wound care, and treatments as prescribed.

Monitor residents’ conditions and report significant changes to the DON, ADON, or Nurse Supervisors.

Supervise CNAs, ensuring proper documentation, adherence to care plans, and assistance with resident needs.

Conduct and receive shift reports at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure continuity of care and effective communication.

Assist in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring accurate documentation and coordination with healthcare providers.

Establishes and maintains a close liaison with residents and families.

Educate residents and families on care plans, medications, and health conditions as needed.

Maintain compliance with all state and federal Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) regulations.

Follow infection control protocols, including proper use of PPE and sanitation procedures.

Respond promptly to resident needs, ensuring a compassionate, resident-centered approach to care.

Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and social workers to coordinate resident care.

Assist with emergency response procedures and provide first aid or CPR as necessary.

Document resident care accurately using electronic medical records (EMR) on facility-approved computers, tablets, or iPads.

Assists with ongoing care management meetings.

Support quality assurance initiatives and participate in performance improvement programs.

Work as part of a team, assisting fellow nurses and CNAs when needed to maintain smooth operations.

Perform other duties as assigned by the nursing leadership team.

Oversee CNAs to ensure proper resident care and documentation.

Assist with training and mentoring new CNAs.

Address performance concerns and elevate issues to the DON as necessary.

Ensure CNAs follow resident care plans and facility protocols.

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida (Required).

Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred but not required.

Familiarity with Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) regulations and compliance standards preferred.

Language Ability

Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, speaking the primary language of the residents.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret graphs.

Ability to Handle Confidential Information

Must be a trustworthy individual who can keep items confidential as appropriate

Computer Skills

Proficiency in using computers, tablets, or iPads for recording vital signs, charting, and reviewing resident care plans.

Basic typing skills to ensure efficient and accurate data entry.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Interacts with guests, residents and staff in a courteous and friendly manner.

Responds promptly to resident and visitor needs and assistance.

Provides regular performance feedback; Applicants for this position will be required to complete a background screening through the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse, per House Bill 531 (2025).
