Facility Maintenance Handyman

The Facility Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of transit facility buildings, grounds, and related infrastructure. This position ensures that maintenance facilities, administrative buildings, and support systems remain safe, functional, and compliant with applicable regulations.

Perform preventative maintenance on and repairs on facility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, painting, electrical, lighting, and mechanical equipment.
Inspects and maintain building infrastructure, including doors, windows, roofing, flooring, and structural components.
Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment such as air compressors, generators, pumps, lifts, and shop equipment.
Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
Responds to facility emergencies, equipment failures, and work order requests.
Maintain transit facility grounds, parking areas, fencing, and other exterior infrastructure as assigned
Coordinate with contractors and vendors during maintenance and repair projects.
Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations.
Assist with facility improvement and renovation projects.
Support snow removal, storm preparation, and other emergency response activities as needed.
High school diploma or GED required
A valid South Carolina Class A or B CDL with passenger endorsement preferred
Minimum of 2 years of experience in facility maintenance or related field required.
Technical or vocational training in building maintenance or a related trade required.
Experience in commercial building maintenance, industrial maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
