Professional Transportation Engineer – Lead

J-U-B) is seeking to hire a Professional Engineer – Lead to work in one of our offices in Salt Lake City or Logan, Utah. The role is part of the Transportation Services Group (TSG), which focuses on surface transportation projects across Utah and neighboring states, managing over 200 active projects including local roadways, highways, intersections, and transportation facilities.

Work with multidisciplinary design teams in planning, design, construction, and permitting of transportation projects for local agencies and State DOTs, including projects with local and federal aid funds.

Collaborate with traffic, structural, and specialty engineers to deliver reports, studies, and drawings to clients.

Operate CAD (MicroStation/OpenRoads) to produce alignments, models, and plans using current standards.

Work in a team setting, reporting to and taking direction from a Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer.

Analyze engineering data and utilize sound judgment to produce final engineering documents including plans, cost opinions, construction drawings, technical specifications, studies, feasibility analyses, technical memoranda, and preliminary engineering reports.

Assist in business development by building client relationships and preparing proposals.

Support the Project Manager in preparing and executing scopes of work, contracts, and design budgets.

Attend client meetings and public meetings or open houses to discuss project details and inform the public.

Perform periodic fieldwork including construction observation and project reconnaissance.

Supervise support staff assigned to projects including drafters, EITs, surveyors, and construction observers.

Manage clients and client projects while providing responsive communication and delivering quality projects to multiple clients.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

5-15 years of transportation engineering experience.

Ability to take small to medium sized projects from design start to completion.

Excellent communication skills and a focus on quality deliverables.

History working on projects with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is a plus.
