Position Overview

Position: Phlebotomist 5204

Location: Hainesport, NJ

Schedule: Mon Wed Fri 8am-12pm; Saturday 7:30am-12:30pm

Projected duration: 3 months with potential for permanent position

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

Responsibilities

Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.

Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection to patients in a clear and courteous manner.

Demonstrate skills using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Fully understand all physicians' orders.

Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.

Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.

Package specimens for transport and store samples according to required temperature, placing samples in appropriate containers and accurately labeling them.

Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

Attend annual department trainings.

Answer telephone calls and review laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Float to Delran, Hainesport, Columbus, Burlington, Medford, Mt. Laurel – mileage expenses paid; requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid phlebotomy certification for the state where employed (as required in some states).

Minimum 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting.

Minimum 1 year of related work experience.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

High School Diploma or GED.
