Group Summary
The Mechatronics, Mirrors and Lighting group specializes in automotive technologies that are driving the future of mobility. Combining a deep systems knowledge to develop unique vehicle access experiences, intelligent vision systems and advanced automotive lighting technologies, the group’s expertise lights the path to innovation, safety and styling.

Job Responsibilities
Plan, support, and implement total quality programs. Design, specify, and install quality control sampling systems, testing mechanisms, and equipment. Formulate and/or assist in formulating quality control policies and procedures and develop quality standards. Monitor and control costs, timing, and other related aspects of projects. Serve as a liaison and coordinate activity of internal and external resources. Provide a problem‑solving function by initiating action to overcome obstacles and prevent potential quality problems. Assist internal and external contacts to resolve product and process problems. Investigate and solve manufacturing‑related problems in assigned area using formal problem‑solving tools. Analyze and develop suppliers’ products to obtain maximum productivity and review performance in operation, providing suggestions for improvement. Champion continuous improvement efforts. Research, recommend, implement, and administer new and/or existing quality assurance processes. Engage in comparative and competitive analysis to ensure utilization of the most appropriate and beneficial techniques in each situation. Perform other duties as necessary. May supervise and provide work direction to other staff.

Plans, supports, and implements total quality programs. Defines scope, plans, organizes, leads and directs technical work and departmental efforts related to quality engineering activities for new and existing programs.

Key Functions & Responsibilities
At level I, work is primarily routine and focused on daily workflow requirements that involve detailed engineering assignments including calculations and relatively standard tests. Guidance is provided either by instruction received on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions; or in the form of independently evaluating, selecting, and applying established and well‑defined engineering techniques, procedures, policies, or systems. Decisions involve limited risk to the organization. Primarily involves entry through intermediate level work.

At level II, work is moderately complex and difficult in character and requires program/project management skills. Functioning as a highly competent engineer, work requires independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard company procedures and translation of technical guidance from higher level personnel into data applicable to the assignment. Decisions involve moderate risk to the organization although results may have a long‑lasting impact. Primarily involves intermediate through advanced level work, moving toward complete technical competency and mastery of the field.

Qualifications, Education & Experience
Level I

Bachelor’s degree in engineering field with understanding of advanced quality engineering practices, principles, processes, etc.; or equivalent. Previous experience in automotive industry with fixture and gauge design preferred.

Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, coordinate, integrate internal data, and clearly articulate concepts, ideas, and other issues relating to advanced quality engineering.

Demonstrated creativity and ingenuity to work on moderate to long‑term assignments which are broad in nature. Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills to prioritize, coordinate projects, manage conflicting needs, and deal with many issues at one time. Must be able to work independently.

Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts and represent the Company in a professional manner when performing job duties. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to exercise influence at various levels and functions.

Must be able to operate standard and specialized equipment related to the job. Strong computer background with ability to calculate and analyze data, generate reports, present information, etc.

Demonstrated ability to research and recommend new products and processes. Must be able to initiate implementation of continuous improvement processes.

Level II (in addition to above requirements)

Three years’ experience in advanced quality engineering, project/program management; or equivalent. Must have thorough and complete knowledge of the field. Must be broadly familiar with technologies, products, customers, and programs.

Demonstrated ability to work on long‑term assignments, broad in nature, using a high level of originality and ingenuity. Must be able to work independently with some latitude for unreviewed action or decision.

Demonstrated ability to lead and manage several large and complex projects simultaneously. Must have experience with past project financial responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others through support, training, etc.

Demonstrated ability to thoroughly research, recommend, and oversee implementation of new products, materials, processes, etc. and present information.
