This is an exciting time to join Remote and make a personal difference in the global HR‑tech space as a Managing Counsel, Product (Please note, this is not a People Manager role) . We are looking for a talented and eager lawyer, who is interested in helping with our team’s mission: to deliver pragmatic and innovative legal solutions for Remote’s products and stakeholders, while protecting Remote from unacceptable risk.

Product counsel experience in technology, with prior HR‑tech exposure (EOR/PEO/HRIS/Payroll) advising at scale across multiple jurisdictions.

S. state/federal developments, Canada AIDA) and their interplay with data protection (GDPR/CCPA) and employment transparency rules.

In‑house experience is a bonus and preferred.

Startup experience is a bonus.

Fluent in English (writing and speaking).

Tech‑savvy with Slack, Juro, Notion, Google Drive or equivalent.

Remote work experience is a plus, but not required.

Own HRIS and AI product counseling end‑to‑end, including AI impact assessments, model cards, and risk controls with Privacy/Security.

Draft and negotiate product terms and AI‑specific clauses as required (training/usage of data & metadata, output/IP ownership, acceptable use, transparency), in collaboration with the Commercial Legal team.

Proactively monitor new AI and tech regulations and translate those into concrete, actionables for product, design and engineering teams.

Manage external counsel on complex, multi‑jurisdictional issues; Deliver targeted enablement (trainings or office hours).

Bonus Points

Experience with AI/ML legal and compliance issues.

Shipped at least one AI feature in production and built the accompanying legal/governance framework.

Experience working remotely.

Reports to: Managing Counsel, Commercial & Product.

Team: Legal.
