Description
American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a Med/Surg/Peds position requiring BLS and PALS certifications at a Critical Access Hospital.
Details

• Med/Surg/Peds unit within an acute care Critical Access Hospital setting
• 17-bed unit with 14 inpatient and 3 observation beds
• Cares for adult and pediatric patients with diagnoses including UTI, altered mental status, pneumonia, and COPD
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights
• Charge nurse present on each shift and takes a patient assignment
• Nurse aide support available at a 2:15 ratio on days and 1 aide on nights
• Pediatrician not on-site but available on call for pediatric patients
• No ventilators on the unit; RT primarily manages occasional BiPap use
• ICU monitors telemetry and reads strips; unit nurses apply telemetry leads to patients
• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• 12-hour night shifts on a 7-7 schedule with self-scheduling
• Weekend shifts required as needed
• Floating to ED/ICU required as needed for 1:1 patient assignments
• Uses MEDITECH as the charting system
• No clinical involvement required in this role

Requirements
Active RN license (ND or Compact) required
Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
BLS and PALS certifications required
Must be able to pass a respirator fit test; facial hair may require additional testing and could affect eligibility
Driver's license copy required for consideration
Additional Information
Provide direct nursing care to a mixed adult and pediatric Med/Surg patient population
Success on this unit benefits from strong communication, motivation, approachability, and teamwork
Documentation practices can be detailed, so asking questions when unsure is encouraged
One 12-hour shift of unit orientation provided, which may be split into one day and one night shift
No holiday coverage requirement
Navy blue scrubs required
Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment (3 shifts for shorter assignments)
Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
Candidates may not currently work full time, part time, or PRN for any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity
