Weekend A PCU RN

Registered Nurse in Progressive Care Unit

Nurses on this unit care for adult patients who are acutely ill with a wide variety of medical problems. The patient population includes cardiac, neuro, renal, infectious disease, pulmonary conditions, and more. As a Registered Nurse in this specialty, you will be accountable for the coordination of direct patient care and education. The average patient ratio is 1 nurse for every 5 patients. Skills required include managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and cardiac telemetry. You will be responsible for the care and management of central lines, chest tubes, and various other medical procedures. The unit has a variety of interdisciplinary support services available, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. You will also be involved in the management of patients with conditions such as congestive heart failure, stroke, COPD, and acute respiratory failure. Special procedures include insulin drips for DKA management and post-cardiac catheterization care. You must comply with policies regarding fit testing and workplace safety measures. This position requires working every other Saturday, with Sundays off. Medical, dental & vision insurance
