Insurance Defense Attorney - Managing Attorney

A well-established and highly respected law firm is seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney to join its growing team in Cedar Grove, NJ. This is a hybrid opportunity for an attorney who enjoys managing cases independently, thrives in a collaborative environment, and has experience representing insurance carriers in complex civil litigation.

In this role, you will handle a diverse insurance defense caseload from inception through resolution while working closely with clients, insurance carriers, and fellow attorneys to deliver exceptional legal representation.

Responsibilities

Independently manage a diverse insurance defense caseload from inception through resolution.

Represent insurance carriers and insured clients in complex civil litigation matters.

Draft, review, and respond to pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents.

Conduct legal research and develop case strategies to achieve favorable outcomes.

Attend depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and court appearances.

Communicate regularly with clients, insurance adjusters, opposing counsel, and the court regarding case developments.

Negotiate settlements when appropriate while protecting clients' interests.

Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines and firm standards.

Qualifications

Active New York Bar license (required); New Jersey Bar license is a plus.

Experience handling insurance defense litigation on behalf of insurance carriers.

Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload.

Strong legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.

Experience with all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, and motion practice.

Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $140,000 and $170,000 . Factors which may affect pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
