Job SummaryPerforms a variety of custodial tasks to maintain a high standard of safety and sanitation throughout County facilities, grounds, and buildings.Job ResponsibilitiesLevel I:Sweeps, mops, waxes, and polishes hard surface floors.Washes and spot-cleans windows.Cleans and maintains equipment; Responds to maintenance requests and work orders.Supports the relationship between Pitkin County government and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and County staff; Level III (in addition to Level I):Cleans and maintains equipment; Monitors and fulfills maintenance requests and work orders; monitors and assists other Custodians; inventories custodial supplies and submits orders as needed.Level I: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.Up to 1 year of previous maintenance or custodial experience is preferred.Level III (in addition to Level I): 3 plus years of previous maintenance or custodial experience.Knowledge Of:Safety policies, procedures, and practices for basic construction industry standards.Inventory management methods and practices.Personal protective equipment and proper use.Equipment troubleshooting methods.General maintenance practice and procedures.Microsoft Office Products and Google Suite.Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.Operating tools and equipment safely.Physical Demands and Working EnvironmentWork is performed throughout assigned County buildings, grounds, and facilities. Requires moderate physical exertion and exposure to inclement weather conditions and potentially dangerous tools and cleaning products.The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodations will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job, absent undue hardship.
