Job Title: Civil Project Manager, Public Works Project Manager

Location: Sacramento, CA / Rancho Cordova, CA

Compensation: $130-150,000 base +

Minimum Requirements:

10+ years Civil Engineering background

Public Works project experience

Autocad Civil 3D experience

CA PE License

We are seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager to lead a team of designers and engineers in delivering high-quality public works and land development projects. This role combines project management, client engagement, and technical design leadership. The ideal candidate is a licensed professional engineer with a strong background in civil engineering, team leadership, and business development.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage a variety of public works and private land development projects from concept through construction.

Serve as the primary client liaison , ensuring strong communication and satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Prepare and oversee the development of engineering reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates .

Track and manage project scope, budgets, and schedules to ensure timely and profitable delivery.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to design staff, including engineers and CAD technicians.

Ensure quality control and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

Support business development efforts , including proposal preparation, fee negotiations, and client presentations.

Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive project success.

Occasionally visit job sites, attend client meetings, and submit plans to agencies.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

Professional Engineer (PE) license in California required.

Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, with a focus on public works.

Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D .

Proven ability to manage multiple projects and lead diverse teams.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

Experience with client interaction and mentoring junior staff.

Additional Requirements

Valid California driver’s license.

Ability to travel locally for site visits and meetings.

Capable of lifting and carrying plan sets (1-20 lbs) as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000 annually
