Property maintenance and repair tech

Job Summary

Maintains efficient operation and upkeep of property, buildings, and grounds for Volunteers of America North Louisiana and all related programs.

Job Duties / Essential Functions

Completes daily repair and upkeep of property.

Completes preventative maintenance procedures as outlined in Preventative Maintenance Inspection List.

Prepares vacant units for occupancy.

Provides care, maintenance, and inventory of all supplies and equipment owned by the property and/or the management company.

Ensures the supply, inventory, and upkeep of all personal and agency‑provided tools is maintained.

Reports unusual or extraordinary circumstances regarding the property and/or residents.

Maintains a professional appearance and attitude at all times.

Maintains a clean work area, tools, and equipment.

Responds courteously and efficiently at all times.

Maintains awareness of and operates within OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act) standards and company safety policies at all times.

Maintains thorough knowledge of management company policies and property community policies.

Seeks educational and self‑improvement opportunities for personal growth and development as needed.

Is available to work on‑call if needed.

Work on special projects as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Three (3) years related experience preferred.

Related certifications preferred.

Current valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Automobile liability insurance that meets minimum requirements.

Required Skills / Abilities

Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with people of all levels and backgrounds.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Good organization skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.

Good time management and problem‑solving skills with good attention to detail.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive situations.

Ability to travel and/or work in the community daily, as required by position and supervisor.
