CAD TechnicianWe are seeking a skilled CAD Technician to conduct site surveys of local buildings, collect and confirm room locations and spatial data, and ensure compliance with SI CAD Standards. The role involves reviewing, verifying, and editing drawings and spatial data based on feedback from Smithsonian staff, developing new drawings for incomplete facilities, and providing printed reports as needed. This position supports ongoing construction activities at the Smithsonian Institute, including high-profile projects such as the National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall.ResponsibilitiesConduct site surveys of local buildings to collect or confirm room locations and spatial data.Ensure technical verification of CAD deliverables for compliance with SI CAD Standards.Review drawings and data to ensure accurate capture and compliance.Edit spatial data and create/edit drawings based on comments from Smithsonian staff.Develop new drawings for incomplete facilities.Provide onsite space planning and update floor planning for the Smithsonian Institute.Convert designs into AutoCAD floor plans for the Smithsonian.Essential SkillsAssociate's degree in Drafting, Designing, CAD, or similar training.Previous federal agency experience in drafting, space planning, floor layout, and drawings.Eligible for a security clearance.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with AutoCAD.Work EnvironmentThis position is onsite with no remote or hybrid work options offered.
