Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to a general med/surg patient population, including overflow post-operative surgical (hips/knees) and psychiatric patients
Manage patient ratios of 4–5:1 on a 24-bed unit
Administer and monitor heparin drips and other ordered medications and treatments
Utilize remote telemetry monitoring in coordination with the tele tech unit
Serve in a charge nurse capacity as assigned
Float across multiple campuses as required by unit needs
Required Qualifications
Minimum 24 months of current Med Surg / Medical Surgical / Med Surg Telemetry nursing experience
Active Iowa RN license or active Compact/Multistate RN license required at time of submission
BLS certification through AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) required
Charge nurse experience required
Proficiency with EPIC EMR required
Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (verified by driver's license)
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience caring for psychiatric patients
Preceptor experience
Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months
Willingness and ability to extend beyond the initial 13-week contract
