About the Position
Job Opportunity – Cardiac Telemetry / Stepdown RN – North Carolina Start Date: September 14, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-26 week assignments available
Highlights:

• Dynamic cardiac telemetry and stepdown unit caring for complex cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical patients
• Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical stepdown, 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients
• Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management
• 24-hour orientation with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
• Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4-week period (flexible scheduling)
• Float requirement follows unit rotation; not first to float

Requirements:
Current RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted)
Minimum 2 years of cardiac telemetry experience required
Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience
Current BLS,

ACLS

, and NIHSS certifications required
Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
Core competencies: cardiac telemetry monitoring, sheath removal, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, post-MI care, pre/post cardiac cath management, cardiac drip management and titration, chest tube management, non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula)
Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Willingness to serve on Storm Team/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events or disasters as required
Preferred Qualifications:
Arterial line management experience
Wound care and wound vac experience
Previous charge nurse experience
Patient Population:
Adult and geriatric patients with cardiac and vascular diagnoses including atrial fibrillation, CHF, acute coronary syndrome, cardiomyopathy, endocarditis, peripheral vascular disease, carotid stenosis, and post-procedural cardiac/thoracic surgery patients. Common procedures include CABG, valve replacements (AVR, MVR), TAVR, mitral clip, Watchman procedures, vascular surgeries, cardiac catheterizations, and electrophysiology procedures.
