• The Multispecialty Sonographer performs basic to advanced ultrasound services. These may include abdominal, Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, and small parts. Performs various specialty ultrasound procedures using different equipment and techniques. Makes necessary measurements for accurate and high-quality interpretation results.

May assist physicians in procedure and operating rooms by performing ultrasound studies. This aids in complex procedures and decreases risk factors.
Prepares patients for procedures and obtains clinical history, including physical findings and lab data. Explains the purpose of the ultrasound examination to the patient and answers questions.
Imaging team members must follow policies, procedures, and workflows. Records statistics and performs daily maintenance of the ultrasound Lab and its equipment, reporting all malfunctions as appropriate.
Acts as a resource to team members, physicians and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures, and studies to optimize patient care.
Works closely with ultrasound team members to ensure quality processes and follow protocols. Assists with unit or organization accreditation activities as delegated.
Implements protocols as new technology evolves, ensures implementation and adherence to system standards.
Assures operation of equipment by performing quality checks following manufacturer's recommendations and troubleshooting equipment as required.
Must be familiar with approved clinical protocols for each type of ultrasound examination to be performed.
Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, or small parts. Pediatric and adult scopes are separate specialties by certification.
Knowledge of proper infection control, including precautionary procedures.
Ability to interact and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with healthcare providers, including other sonographers, physicians, and nurses.
Skilled in the utilization of computers and medical equipment.
Able to serve as trainer by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.
Certification/License/Registration:

Fetal Echocardiography (FE)/Musculoskeletal Sonography (MSK)/Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)/Reg Dig Card Son-Adult Echo (RDCS-AE)/Ped.Echocardiography (PE) (RDCS-PE)/Reg Diag Medical Sonographer (RDMS)/Reg Diag Med Sono-Abdomen (AB) (RDMS-AB)/Reg Diag Med Sono-Breast (BR) (RDMS-BR)/Reg Diag Med Sono-OB/GYN (OB) (RDMS-OB)/RDMS-Pediatric Sonography (PS) (RDMS-PS)/Registered Vascular Tech (RVT)
ARDMS in (AB) or (OB) or RVT (ARDMS): Must have 2 years of related Multispecialty Experience and
ARDMS – RDMS: AB, BR, OB/GYN, PS/ARDMS – RDCS: AE, FE, PE/ARDMS – RVT/ARDSM – RMSKS/ARRT – S, VS, BS.
