Description:
The position requires experience in BMT Oncology.
Oncology experience is mandatory.
Candidates must pass a Relias EKG exam.
Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias are required.
Floating to various units within the Oncology department based on the highest need per shift is expected.
The RN will not always work specifically on one unit.
The patient-to-nurse ratio is 4:1 for all shifts.
The average daily census is 30 patients.
The unit consists of 32 beds/rooms.
Every other weekend work is required.
Duties include administering chemotherapy and managing auto stem cell transplants.
Certifications in ONS/ONCC, ACLS, and BCLS are required.
Chemo certification is also necessary.
A minimum of 1 year of oncology experience is required, but first-time travelers will be accepted.
Skills needed include managing side effects of chemotherapy, handling central lines, and monitoring telemetry.
All travelers will float within the service line as needed.
The facility is a short-term acute care teaching hospital with a Magnet designation.
It has a total of 1,266 staffed beds.
The patient age group primarily consists of adults.
Interdisciplinary support services are available, including physical therapy and pharmacy.
Candidates must be fit for facial hair testing.
All required skills must be screened and validated before starting the assignment.
