TRAVEL - RN - ICU - Day Shift

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU Float Pool position requiring 2 years of ICU experience and the ability to float between multiple ICU specialties and step-down units.

Job Details

• Short term acute care, Level I Trauma Center, academic medical center setting,
• ICU Float Pool position covering 5 ICU specialties across two campuses,
• Floats between Yale New Haven Hospital (York Street Campus) and Saint Raphael Campus, which are located near each other with shuttle service available,
• Floats within scope to step-down units as needed, including a pulmonary step-down unit with 1:3 patient ratios,
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM,
• Every other weekend required,
• No on-call requirements,
• Uses Epic charting system,

Job Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required prior to start date (pending license applications accepted),
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required (1.5 years considered with Level I trauma or travel experience),
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS,
• TNCC certification preferred,
• Trauma Level I center experience at a large facility required,
• Skills required: IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care/management, care of ventilated patients, continuous IV sedation, cardiac monitoring and emergency response, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring,
• Experience with external ventricular drain (EVD) preferred,
• 1 professional reference required,
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted,
• COVID vaccine and booster required with religious or medical exemptions only,

• Provide critical care nursing across multiple ICU specialties and step-down units as needed,
• Work within a large academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center environment,
• May be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
• Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility,
• Former staff must have been separated from the health system for at least 2 years to return as a traveler,
• Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require additional approval
