Must-Have:
General Med/Tele skill set including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, PCA pump medication management, and administration of cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids.
Description:
We are looking for a dedicated MedSurg/Tele RN to join our team.
The unit consists of multiple med-surg and med-tele units.
The primary focus is to decompress the emergency department and other specialty areas within the facility.
Patient types include adults and geriatrics.
Common diagnoses involve COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF exacerbation, falls with injuries, MVC with injuries, pulmonary embolism, DVT, UTI, pneumothorax, GI bleeds, and CVA.
Patient ratios vary based on acuity but generally are as follows:
1:5-6 on the main med-surg unit, with surge staffing potentially increasing ratios up to 1:7-8.
Ratios on other med-surg units may be as low as 1:4.
The support team includes CNAs who will assist with vital signs, hygiene care, and basic patient needs.
A secretary will help manage calls and direct traffic within the unit.
Charge nurses will assist with monitoring and overall unit coordination.
Phlebotomy services are available 24/7 for peripheral blood draws.
Telemetry monitoring is conducted by the nursing staff, and nurses are responsible for completing telemetry interpretations each shift.
Floating may be required based on regional needs within the scope of practice.
Weekend rotations and holiday work expectations will be discussed during the hiring process.
