School Health One-On-One Nurse

Qualifications: A valid South Carolina license to practice as a Registered Nurse with a minimum of five years of RN experience. Must be certified (or obtain certification) in CPR and First Aid, and must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license. Must be willing to obtain instructor status for CPR and First Aid. Complete online application. All documents must be uploaded. Current BCSD employees - upload document stating TB test is on file.
Under general supervision of the Health Services Coordinator, the RN/LPN assists in ensuring that the district Vision, Mission and Goals are achieved and provides nursing care to medically fragile specific student. The Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse accompanies his/her student at all times during the school day and adheres to the policies and procedures of the district and health services.
Reports to the School Principal through the Nursing Services Coordinator.
Provides his/her medically fragile student with personal quality medical care during school hours which may include riding the bus to and from school with student, as well as providing tube feeding, checking blood sugars, or any other procedures ordered by student's MD;
Develops a working relationship with school nurse and school staff;
Observes the student and gives verbal report daily to Case Manager and School Nurse which includes any changes in the health needs of the student;
Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Services, Audiology service, Psychology and all other Special Educational services;
Provides identified student with appropriate care specified in physician's orders;
Makes recommendations to Health Services Coordinator on health needs of identified student and advises case worker, principal, and school nurse;
Participates in assigned training programs;
Submits Medicaid billing using district computerized documentation;
Reports to the school health room to assist the school nurse with daily operations in health room when identified student is not at school;
Valid South Carolina License to practice as a Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse with a minimum of five years' experience as a nurse, and possess a valid South Carolina driver's license.
CPR and basic First Aid training must be current.
Job requires a basic knowledge of developmental stages, communicable diseases, and general nursing care. Ability to use computers recommended.
The incumbent is responsible for the performance of other related duties as assigned/required.
