Police Officer
The City of Saratoga Springs is accepting applications for Police Officers, this is for full-time sworn positions within the Saratoga Springs Police Department. Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) certified or be currently enrolled in the Utah P.Lateral appointments will be considered for those applicants with applicable law enforcement credit on a year-for-year basis per the city policy, up to a maximum of Step 10.
O.S.T Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) certification in good standing or be currently enrolled in the Utah POST Law Enforcement Officer Academy
Must be clear of any prior felony or significant misdemeanor criminal record.
Must maintain firearm proficiency to include department firearms qualifications.
Must maintain law enforcement certification by completing annual training requirements (40 hours).
These positions will be serving Saratoga Springs City (population 40,000) and Bluffdale City (population 16,000). The Police Department is looking for applicants who are committed to community-oriented policing. The Police Department has assignments in Patrol, Investigations, SRO, K9, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, DARE, and SWAT. The City offers a competitive benefits package including several health insurance options (one of which has a $0.00 employee premium payroll deduction with Wellness program participation), dental insurance, life and long-term disability insurance, an EAP (including mental health shortterm counseling services) for the whole family, a free Teledoc program for the whole family, monetary incentives for wellness program participation, and a HSA (health savings account) with an Employer match. The City also offers the employee the option to elect to add on Vision, Accident, Hospital, Critical Illness, additional Life Insurance coverage, and FSAs (flexible spending accounts).
The City participates in the Utah Public Retirement System (pension). In addition, the City does not participate in Social Security so no Social Security taxes are deducted from your paycheck. In lieu of the City's Social Security contributions, the City contributes 6.2% of salary into a 401 (k) retirement plan. Officers with college degrees from an accredited institution of higher learning may be eligible for an incentive ($25 per month for an associate's degree, $50 per month for a bachelor's degree, and $75 per month for a master's degree). Additionally, Officers are currently eligible for a uniform allowance ($1300 per year, paid bi-weekly). Leave time benefits include 120 hours of paid time off (PTO) accrued annually, 40 hours of short -term medical accrued annually, and 11 holidays annually. The City also offers flexible workweek schedules (all schedules must be approved by the department head).
An interview with the Chief of Police for selected applicants will then be scheduled for a future date. Entry-level applicants will be required to take a written exam and must pass the Utah POST LEO fitness test, or provide proof of passing the test within the last year. Selected entry-level applicants will then be invited to participate in a department interview, followed by an interview with the Chief of Police for selected applicants. Open until filled, applications received before the first review on Thursday, October 15th, 2026, will be reviewed on, or close to that date. Any applications received on October 15th, 2026, or after will be held; they will be reviewed if subsequent review(s) of applications are deemed necessary.
