Products include ruggedized military electronic equipment for maritime applications, robotic ground vehicles, vehicle autonomy hardware and ground robots. Acting as a technical lead supporting existing and new products, the candidate will evaluate design changes, perform design and analysis tasks, plan and oversee design tasks, review and approve design documentation at our Franklin, MA facility.ResponsibilitiesProvide “hands-on” support for mechanical design and product issues related to various DOD pre-production and production programsElectromechanical design, layout and modeling of electro-mechanical assemblies, robotic systems and assorted military hardwareParticipate in the formal Engineering Change process including:Creating/updating designs and drawings for productionPerforming checking and approvalDesign hardware products using 3D CAD modeling toolsResponsible for oversight and tasking to other engineers on project designsPerform system level tolerance analysisProvide disposition instructions and justification of non-conforming materialFacilitate review meetings and present at all levels of formal design review meetingsInterface with vendors and identify sources of supply for critical fabrication itemsInterface with customers on a project engineering levelParticipate in cost estimation for development programsProvide direction and guidance to other engineers and design staffRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a similar engineering discipline5-12 years’ experience in mechanical design in all aspects of a product lifecycleExperience in all phases of design/development (concept to production)Experience in processing Engineering Changes to documentation on DOD programsMust have experience with metal fabrication design, electromechanical hardware design, and have an understanding of manufacturing techniquesExperience creating and working with formal design/development processes with an emphasis on transitioning projects from prototype development to productionMust be proficient using 3-D Solid Modeling software (PTC CREO and/or Solidworks)Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models Must have experience with creation of detailed drawing and geometric tolerancing (ASME Y14.5)Direct technical lead experience managing design tasksMust demonstrate excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skillsMust have experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPointMust be able to obtain a DOD Security ClearancePreferred QualificationsExperience in Model Based Definition Experience designing hardware for DoD Maritime programsPay TransparencyThe salary range for this role is $100,000- $130,000 USD.
