A Progressive Care Unit nurse (PCU nurse) has a unique job of caring for patients as they transition from the ICU. A progressive care nurse works in a hospital. A PCU nurse specializes in the medical treatment and surgery of patients with needs that are too complicated for a regular hospital floor, but do not require admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Cancellation Policy: For Travel and Local Contract Associate Providers confirmed for eight (8), ten (10) or any combination of eight (8), ten (10) and twelve (12) hour shifts, Associate Providers will be provided a guaranteed minimum of forty (40) scheduled hours per each weekly payroll period. For Travel and Local Contract Associate Providers confirmed for twelve (12) hour shifts, Associate Providers will be provided a guaranteed minimum of thirty-six (36) scheduled hours per each weekly payroll period. A guaranteed minimum of forty-eight (48) scheduled hours per weekly payroll period may be provided solely for critical need assignments on a per confirmation basis as communicated to AV by AMN in writing. The guaranteed minimum work week applies to all work weeks, including weeks during which orientation is provided, weeks with holidays and weeks during which there may be unit closures for all or any portion of such week. The calculation of the guaranteed minimum work week includes regular hours, call back hours and overtime hours worked, but does not include any "on-call" time. Client has the option to cancel two (2) shifts per thirteen (13) week assignment without penalty as needed for low census or changes in staffing needs. b. Assignment Cancellation by AV or Associate Provider: i. Prior to the time an Associate Provider begins their assignment, if AV or Associate Provider cancels the assignment for any reason, AV must provide a minimum of fourteen (14) days advance notice prior to the Associate Provider's report date. In the event AV fails to provide at least 14 days notice, AV shall at AMN's option either: 1. Provide a qualified replacement that is available to be on-site at Client's facility by the original report date; or 2. Credit AMN for forty hours (40) hours at such Associate Provider's regular hourly rate. ii. Once an Associate Provider has begun their assignment, if AV or Associate Provider cancels any remaining time left on the assignment, AV shall provide a qualified replacement within seven (7) days following the notification date or credit AMN for forty (40) hours at such Associate Provider's regular hourly rate.
