Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical - Neuro unit position requiring 2 years of relevant experience and BLS certification.
Details

• Medical Surgical - Neuro unit in a hospital setting
• Neuro surgical procedures and neuro diagnoses patient population
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
• 36 or 48 hour weekly schedule options available
• Contract length of 13-26 weeks
• Floating required
• 12-16 weekend shifts required per contract, with some flexibility
• Uses Pyxis, SBAR, and EPIC systems
• Manager-based scheduling

Requirements
Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending license/certs OK for consideration
Current BLS certification required
ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
Prior neuro experience preferred
Prior charge nurse experience preferred
EPIC charting experience preferred
Telemetry and IV therapy/phlebotomy skills preferred
Skills in neurological/psychiatric care and CVA (cerebrovascular accident) management
Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical nursing care to neuro surgical and neuro diagnosis patients
• 2 orientation shifts on the unit following hospital-based orientation
• Navy scrubs required
• Must be willing to be assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters
• May be reassigned to different units mid-contract during emergency consolidation
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• RTO limited to 7 days maximum, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units with separate schedules and transportation
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status
• First-time travelers not accepted for this role due to minimum experience requirement
