Infusion Registered Nurse (RN)

The Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) in the Lymphoma Care Neighborhood at Fred Hutch Cancer Center brings together the leading research teams and cancer specialists of Fred Hutch, Seattle Children's, and UW Medicine. In support of our mission, Fred Hutch is physically growing the clinic footprint and expanding into Care Neighborhoods. The Care Neighborhood puts the patient at the center of our work and brings the care team together to more effectively care for the patient. The clinicians testing this model will be innovators in their field and will work together to create a better patient and staff experience.
This is a per diem position at our South Lake Union location. Occasional weekend work may be required.
Assesses physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs and evaluates patients' adaptation to health changes
Develops a plan of care based on patients' disease, symptoms, and response to treatment
Coordinates with interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
Refers patients, families, and caregivers as appropriate to other clinical resources/professionals such as social work, home health care, clinical nutrition, etc.
Implements, evaluates, and modifies plan of care
In addition to the primary responsibilities of the Registered Nurses (RN), the Infusion RN will have the following key responsibilities:
Nursing Care and Assessment
Perform nursing assessment, review relevant lab results, assess pain and other symptoms
Follow all procedures regarding safe disposal of any materials used in the administration of chemotherapy or other hazardous agents and blood products
Provide patient and family education in coordination with treatment and care plan
Ensure patients have clinic contact information and understand when to call if symptoms arise or persist post-infusion therapy
Collaborate with the care team to provide effective and efficient patient care
Request consultation from social work, dietitian, spiritual care, and/or any other supportive care teams when the patient's situation indicates
Professional Development and Clinic Engagement
~ Participation in continuing education, departmental projects, committee work, and quality improvement initiatives.

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
Must have a current Washington State Registered Nurse Multistate License (MSL) or current MSL from another state; Applicants that do not have previous oncology experience will be provided additional training and support
Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years
Bachelor of Science in Nursing

• Two years of nursing experience preferred
• Certification in oncology or specialty practice area
• 2 years of RN Oncology experience in an ambulatory infusion setting

The hourly pay range for this position is from $58.72 to $107.00, which includes the per diem differential, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees access to a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program, and paid sick leave (1 hour for every 30 hours worked).
