Maintenance Worker

The position involves working in a school setting, performing general maintenance and custodial duties. It involves interaction with staff and students During the summer months, many hours are spent maintaining the grounds. Perform general labor and grounds work such as picking up trash and litter, mowing grass, snow removal, and operate maintenance equipment such as floor scrubber, floor buffer, and carpet cleaner

Plant, fertilize spray, water, prune, seed, propagate and cultivate grasses, flowers, bushes, trees, and other plants and shrubbery

Move furniture, equipment and supplies

Provide security to building

Inspect, adjust and maintain heating/air conditioning units - via the HVAC temperature control system

Operate Simplex Fire System

Perform building and equipment maintenance work that may include plumbing, carpentry, and minor electrical repairs

Observe established safety practices and procedures in working with chemicals, materials and equipment

Collect and dispose of waste and recyclable materials

High School diploma or GED and three years of custodial or facility maintenance experience, including HVAC, landscaping, groundskeeping, carpentry, and snow removal and maintenance equipment operation. Requires the ability to move and lift equipment, furniture, and boxes. Use of common courtesy in everyday contact with employees, clients, students, and the general public.
