Assembly Welder, Production Welding

This position focuses on fabricating and welding structural steel assemblies with a high level of precision. You will work from detailed blueprints to lay out, cut, fit, and weld structural components within tight tolerances, contributing to the production of prefabricated medical modules in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Read and interpret structural steel blueprints to determine layout, dimensions, and welding requirements.

Pass a 3G 1-inch plate test per AWS D1.1 using FCAW to demonstrate welding proficiency.

Lay out, cut, fit, and weld structural steel components to within 1/16-inch tolerance.

Cut miters and copes using a hand torch to prepare steel for assembly.

Perform stick welding as the primary process and complete MIG welding as needed.

Operate or assist with the operation of overhead cranes and forklifts to move and position steel safely, using proper certification where required.

Unload, organize, and number steel components in accordance with drawings and production schedules.

Work effectively within an assembly line process where bathroom modules move through sequential fabrication stages.

Proven structural steel or related fabrication experience.

FCAW welding experience with the ability to pass a 3G test on 1-inch plate per AWS D1.Demonstrated experience with steel fit-up, including layout, cutting, and assembly.

Proficiency in stick welding with the flexibility to perform MIG welding when required.

Ability to cut steel accurately using appropriate tools, including hand torches.

Experience cutting, drilling, and assembling steel components for structural applications.

Familiarity with operating or assisting with overhead cranes and forklifts, with required certifications.

Attention to detail and ability to maintain tight tolerances in a production environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bessemer, AL.
