Material Handler / Crane Operator

We are currently seeking a dependable and experienced Material Handler / Crane Operator to join our operations team in Houston. As a Material Handler / Crane Operator, you'll be part of a team that plays a vital role in moving the American steel industry forward. You'll operate an overhead crane to move heavy steel material safely and efficiently, helping us fulfill customer orders and maintain our high standards for service and delivery.

Follow all company safety policies and immediately report any hazards or deficiencies
Attend all mandatory training and safety meetings
Maintain cleanliness and organize materials in assigned work areas
Operate 3 to 5-ton bridge cranes
Conduct daily equipment inspections for forklifts, cranes, and controls
Load/unload trucks and stock materials using dual hoist bridge cranes or forklifts
Report unusual equipment noises or malfunctions
Assist with stock checks and inventory counts as directed
Support training efforts for new employees when needed
2+ years of experience in material handling or crane operation

• Skilled in crane capacity limits, rigging, and safe handling of large and irregular steel materials
• Able to calculate the weight of materials and accurately read tape measures
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently on a routine basis and handle materials safely as part of daily job duties.

Ability to stand for extended periods and maintain safe body positioning while performing tasks and moving through the work area, including walking on concrete floors and uneven surfaces.
Ability to work safely in a warehouse environment with exposure to noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
Maintain adequate visual and auditory acuity to safely perform assigned tasks, including but not limited to: identifying potential hazards, reading and/or recording measurements, inspecting materials, and responding promptly to verbal instructions, alarms or hand signals in the work environment
Physical assessment: required for all Production and Distribution positions, conducted by a company-designated physician at no cost to the candidate.
