About the position

Lewis Insurance is seeking an experienced, licensed Property and Casualty Insurance Agent to join our independent insurance agency in Tulare, California.

This is a revenue-producing position for an insurance professional who can develop relationships, identify insurance needs, present appropriate coverage options, and convert opportunities into long-term agency clients. We are looking for an experienced P&C agent who is ready to produce business, not an entry-level trainee.

This is a full-time, on-site position at Lewis Insurance in Tulare. Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available.

What you’ll do

Develop new property and casualty insurance business

Build and manage a consistent pipeline of qualified prospects

Establish relationships through referrals, networking, community involvement, and other prospecting activities

Identify client exposures and gather complete underwriting information

Prepare accurate applications, quotes, and carrier submissions

Work with account managers and carrier representatives to obtain coverage options

Explain coverage options, limits, deductibles, conditions, and exclusions clearly

Present insurance proposals and guide prospects through the purchasing process

Follow up consistently with prospects and clients

Maintain strong client relationships after the initial sale

Participate in renewal preparation and account-retention efforts

Identify appropriate opportunities to offer additional lines of coverage

Maintain accurate records of prospects, clients, quotes, and communications

Follow agency procedures and applicable California insurance regulations

Attend in-person staff meetings, client meetings, and agency events

Represent Lewis Insurance professionally in the community

What we’re looking for

California Property and Casualty insurance license

Previous experience as a producing P&C insurance agent

Demonstrated ability to generate and close new business

Working knowledge of personal, commercial, or mixed P&C accounts

Strong prospecting, networking, and relationship-development skills

Ability to identify exposures and gather complete risk information

Clear written and verbal communication

Strong follow-through and time-management skills

Comfortable using agency-management, CRM, rating, and carrier systems

Able to work independently while collaborating with account managers and other agency employees

Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to accurate documentation

Professional and consultative approach to insurance sales

Willing and able to work on-site in Tulare, California

Compensation

$24 per hour base compensation

25% of agency commission on new business

25% of agency commission on renewals

The producer’s commission is calculated from the actual commission revenue paid to Lewis Insurance by the applicable insurance carrier. It is not calculated as a percentage of the client’s premium. Carrier commission rates vary by carrier and line of business.

This is a full-time, on-site position at the Lewis Insurance office in Tulare, California.

Regular in-person participation is an essential part of the position because the role involves staff collaboration, client meetings, training, and direct involvement in agency operations. Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available.
