Your Impact Design mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilities
Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, industry codes and standards to projects
Perform high-complexity engineering designs including analysis, calculations, research, and equipment selection
Develop P&IDs for power plant systems including steam cycles, boiler feed, condensate, water treatment, fuel gas, hydrogen, and utilities
Prepare sizing calculations and specifications for major equipment including, but not limited to, heat recovery steam generators, condensers, cooling towers, tanks, blowers, and pumps
Prepare construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical systems
Check design deliverables by industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards
Perform professional mechanical engineering work and conduct more complex investigations and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and permits
Develop construction and installation plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans and updating infrastructure layout plans requiring coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients
Involved from project inception to completion in the management of mechanical design and construction of building and infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation and reconstruction, new builds, operating specifications, building materials, phasing, and construction safety plans
Overses the development and implementation of advanced technologies, monitoring devices, building materials, modeling techniques, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to ensure proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems
Lead larger-scale mechanical engineering projects, ensuring contributors understand responsibilities and timelines, and overseeing budgets, hours, expenses, and subcontractors
Meet with various public or private entities or individuals to discuss engineering/construction challenges and programs
Ensure technical reports and presentations explain research, findings, and recommendations to address engineering, design, and construction issues or opportunities
Develop a client base for high-level mechanical engineering services, including identifying additional business development opportunities
Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines and authorities on funded improvement and development projects, as well as proposals and business development opportunities
Who You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
10+ years of relevant post-education experience in mechanical design for industrial facilities
Working knowledge of Microstation or AutoCAD
Working knowledge of SmartPlant 3D or CADWorx
Highly proficient with mechanical engineering principles, practices, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues
Strong knowledge of relevant mechanical engineering and construction laws, codes, regulations and compliance practices
Experience planning and conducting inspections and investigations on construction/design of facilities and systems
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences
Self-leadership and ability to work with clients, regulators, project managers, and employees at all levels
Ability to provide guidance to mid-level to senior team members and adhere to QA/QC
Experience reviewing documents and preparing technical deliverables with a high degree of complexity
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
Proven ability to coordinate and direct subcontractors and others to complete tasks safely and efficiently

Flexible schedule and ability to adapt to changing priorities and a high-pressure environment
Occasional travel may be required

Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in Engineering
Power plant design experience
Renewable natural gas plant design experience
