Temp/Travel -Registered Nurse (RN) ICU (Nights)

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a MICU position requiring 2 years of ICU experience, a CT or compact RN license, and Epic charting proficiency.

Job Details

• 10-bed Medical ICU within a short term acute care hospital,
• Level II Trauma Center with 426 staffed beds,
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM),
• Every other weekend required,
• Floating required as needed,
• Uses Epic charting system,

Job Requirements

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required,
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required,
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS,
• Epic EMR experience required,
• Skilled in IV therapy, central line/PICC line/arterial line management, and blood product administration,
• Skilled in care of ventilated patients, HFNC, and ETT/NT suctioning,
• Skilled in CVP monitoring, IABP, and pre/post cardiac cath/intervention care,
• Skilled in titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips,
• Skilled in continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade administration,
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition,
• Skilled in management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure,
• Skilled in IV insulin protocols and isolation precautions/PPE,
• One professional reference required,
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted,
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only,

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to medically critical ICU patients including cardiac, respiratory, and renal cases,
• Part of the Yale New Haven Health System with free parking available,
• Local candidates not accepted within a 75-mile radius of the hospital,
• Previous permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to return as a traveler,
• First-time travelers may be considered if they meet the 2-year specialty experience requirement,
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
