Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.
Under the supervision of the attending faculty physician and the clinical nurse or NP lead, the RN is responsible for providing clinical assistance and support in treating and managing the pre and post-transplant care of transplant patients. Solves complex clinical problems and communicates directly with the attending physician. Consultant and liaison for patients and their families with attending physicians, house staff, social workers, financial and administrative staff, and community physicians. Provides teaching to patients, staff, and community organizations. Collaborate with attending physicians on admissions, discharges, urgent evaluations and patient education, primarily in the hospital setting. Works closely with the administrative team to fulfill QA and regulatory requirements.
Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
RN License issued by the State of California.
Kidney Transplant Coordinator experience or two (2) years of recent acute care RN experience in a dedicated Solid Organ Transplant Unit.
Demonstrates critical thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results.
Must have excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.
Epic experience.
Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.
Hourly Equivalent: $66.25 - $92.86
The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
