ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTIONFounded in 1965, the Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) is a social services organization advancing the social and economic well-being of immigrant and low-income New Yorkers through holistic services and community-led impact. CPC is the nation’s largest Asian American social services organization and serves as a trusted community anchor to over 80,000 community members who are served by CPC annually through 50+ high-quality programs and services across 35 sites in New York City. (SUMMARYCPC Education and Career Services (ECS) provides dynamic programs and activities that bridge youth and adults with their highest educational, economic and leadership potential. ECS believes it is never too early or too late to start learning, which is why we use an asset-based approach to maximize clients’ current strengths. Whether in our schools, community centers, or internship sites, ECS creates equitable learning environments that promote leadership development, self-advocacy, and community building. Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP): Funded through the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) provides New York City youth between the ages of 14 to 24 with paid, summer work experience and project-based learning opportunities for up to six weeks in July and August. Participants work in entry-level positions across a variety of sectors and industries, and are provided with workshops on job readiness, career exploration, financial literacy, continuing education and other life skills.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESUnder the supervision of the Program Director, the full-time seasonal Facilitator will:Design and facilitate interactive project-based learning workshops related to positive youth development, such as life skills, leadership skills, work readiness, financial literacy and higher education and healthy livingFacilitate workshops both in-person and virtually.Coordinate the scheduling of guest speakers, community service opportunitiesMaintain participants’ attendance and progressComplete data entry weekly and submit reports as neededAttend meetings and professional development training as required by CPC and fundersFulfill other related duties as outlined by the Program DirectorsQUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:College student majoring in education or social science preferred, but not requiredPrior experience working with high school youth in a classroom setting; knowledge of teen and immigrant issues helpfulSkills and Competencies:Knowledge of MS office applications and virtual platforms such as Zoom, Teams, and Webex.Bilingual; fluency in English and any of the following languages Arabic/Chinese/Spanish.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW$22.00 - $27.00 per hour; up to 35 hours per week with through August 21, 2026CPC offers eligible temporary staff members mandatory benefits, including paid New York State sick timeHOW TO APPLYInterested individuals should submit their resume, along with a cover letter addressed to Julio Peña III, when applying online via CPC’s website: or selected online job boards.
