Description

Job Summary: A Deli Cook prepares and cooks food items for customers in a deli, grocery store, restaurant, or food service establishment. They ensure all food is prepared according to recipes, quality standards, and food safety regulations while providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, cook, and assemble deli foods such as sandwiches, salads, soups, hot meals, and other menu items.

Slice meats and cheeses using deli equipment.

Maintain food quality, freshness, and presentation standards.

Follow recipes and portion-control guidelines.

Monitor food temperatures and adhere to food safety and sanitation procedures.

Stock and rotate ingredients and supplies according to FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.

Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, and kitchen equipment.

Assist with inventory management and report shortages to supervisors.

Serve customers courteously and answer questions about menu items.

Comply with company policies, health regulations, and safety standards.

Qualifications

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous cooking, deli, or food service experience preferred.

Knowledge of food preparation techniques and sanitation practices.

Ability to operate kitchen and deli equipment safely.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

Stand for extended periods.

Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
