We are a member of Goodwill Industries International, a network of 155 independent, local Goodwills in the United States, Canada, and 12 other countries. Goodwill Tulsa is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors, composed of local community leaders, who ensure we are meeting the needs of the citizens of this area. Goodwill Industries of Tulsa is headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We currently operate 13 retail stores and 30 donation centers.
The Janitor I plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within the facility. This position is responsible for performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure all areas meet established hygiene and safety standards. The role requires attention to detail and consistency to uphold the facility’s appearance and functionality. The Janitor I will contribute to the overall well-being of employees, visitors, and clients by ensuring that all spaces are sanitary and orderly. High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and supplies and their safe usage.
Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work.
Familiarity with commercial cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and buffers.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal in assigned areas.
Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the supervisor promptly.
Follow established cleaning procedures and safety protocols to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
The required skills enable the Janitor I to efficiently carry out cleaning and maintenance tasks while adhering to safety guidelines. Physical stamina and attention to detail are essential for thorough cleaning and identifying areas needing attention. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment ensures tasks are completed safely and effectively. Preferred skills such as experience with commercial cleaning machinery and workplace safety enhance productivity and reduce risks. Communication skills facilitate clear reporting of issues and coordination with the maintenance team, contributing to a well-maintained facility.
