Facility Maintenance Handyman

Facilities TechnicianThe Facilities department seeks a Facilities Technician to assist in the operations, maintenance, and repairs to the University's buildings and grounds as well as light HVAC repairs. The typical work schedule is an 8-hour shift during a 40-hour work week. Some overtime required.Responsible for general maintenance including paintingCompletes facilities work and room set-ups initiated by faculty, staff, and studentsTroubleshoots, repairs and maintains the building systems and facilities as requiredAssists with the completion of small-scale carpentry projectsPerforms repairs of doors, hardware, and basic locksmith tasksCompletes light electrical repairs to appliances, fixtures and switchesCompletes light plumbing repairs to water and sewage systems including replacement of fittings and clearing of stoppagesRepairs and replaces of glass, tile, screens, locks, drapesAssists in removal of snow and ice as neededAssists in small office movesCarries out preventative maintenance tasks as assignedParticipates in the on-call rotation for emergency situations such as inclement weather or mechanical failuresAdditional responsibilities may be assigned by supervisorRequired:A minimum of a high school diploma or GEDA valid driver's licenseBasic knowledge of all building systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical)Basic carpentry skills and working knowledge of building materials, size, and nomenclatureAbility to work with hand toolsBasic computer skillsDemonstrated ability to work with peersAbility to manage and multiple tasks simultaneouslyAbility to work well under pressure and meet deadlinesMust be able to communicate and read English, follow verbal and written instructionThe ability to occasionally work off-hours and weekendsPhysical Requirements:Must be able to climb laddersMust be able to lift, push and carry up to 50 lbsMust be able to crawl under desksMust be able to be constantly exposed to weather conditionsMust spend considerable time on feetMust be available in the event of an emergency
