Registered Nurse Endoscopy and GI

As a Registered Nurse GI at Ascension, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing gastrointestinal (GI) diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the Healthcare & Medical Services department. Working in a compassionate, patient‑focused environment, you will deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based care before, during, and after endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies, upper endoscopies, ERCPs, and other GI interventions. You will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, pre‑procedure teaching, verification of medical history and informed consent, and ensuring all safety and infection‑prevention protocols are followed. During procedures, you will collaborate closely with gastroenterologists, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary care team to monitor patient status, manage sedation per protocol, and respond rapidly to changes in condition. Post‑procedure, you will provide recovery care, monitor vital signs and pain levels, manage IV lines and medications, and deliver clear discharge instructions to patients and their families.

In this role, you will utilize strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and technical skills to operate and troubleshoot GI/endoscopy equipment, maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, and support quality and safety initiatives within the unit. You will actively participate in continuous learning, skills development, and performance improvement activities, reflecting Ascension’s commitment to innovation, professional growth, and lifelong learning.
