Overview

Our fast‑paced Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Carolinas Medical Center provides comprehensive, high‑acuity recovery care for patients emerging from surgery in a Level I Trauma Center. We care for a diverse patient population—including trauma, emergent, and elective surgical cases across all specialties. Nurses in our PACU are highly skilled in critical assessment, hemodynamic stabilization, airway management, and rapid clinical decision‑making. Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.

Use evidence‑based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skillful communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program.

Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the candidate practices.

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) strongly preferred.

At least one year of critical care, emergency department, or PACU experience strongly preferred.

Schedule & Payment

Hours are variable; schedule includes Sunday–Saturday days and nights.

Part‑time.

Pay range: $38.20 – $57.30 per hour.

No benefits eligible as a part‑time position.

Hours per week: 0.
