Pay: $20.31/hour

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborates with the Youth Food Program Manager to meet the daily operational goals.

Communicates effectively and professionally with the BYC staff, volunteers, and program participants to ensure timely and coordinated service.

Executes the daily prep list, which changes based on the menu and operational needs.

Follows standardized recipes and directions to ensure consistent food quality.

Sets up, maintains, and breaks down service stations before and after every meal service.

Cleans and sanitizes kitchen and utensils in compliance with the City of Chicago health guidelines.

Stocks incoming food deliveries and organizes food storage areas to maintain cleanliness and inventory rotation.

Maintains records in compliance with HACCP including cooking, holding and cooling temperatures per City of Chicago health code requirements.

Performs related work and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma, or equivalent required.

Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.

Minimum of two (2) years' experience working in kitchen operations, including food preparation and cooking, required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (K/S/A)

Functional and proficient knowledge and practice of various models of integrated care.

Ability to demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of equity, inclusion and diversity concepts, and that they are broader than just race, ethnicity, and gender.

Knowledge of health disparities, substance use and domestic violence issues, especially within LGBTQ community.

Demonstrated self-awareness, in terms of understanding their own culture, identity, biases, prejudices, power, privilege and stereotypes.

Ability to document effectively in an electronic health record environment.

Ability to work affirmatively with gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and HIV positive patients.

ADA Specifications

Requires ability to speak audibly and listen actively.

Requires ability to use computers, telephones and other office equipment.

Requires ability to sit for extended periods of time.

May require occasional bending and lifting up to 25 pounds.

May require periodic travel.
