Production Baker - SEASONAL POSITION

Bar Heretic is a neighborhood bakery/café and wine bar in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. We specialize in natural and organic wines, seasonal bar snacks, and naturally leavened breads and baked goods

JOB OVERVIEW

At Bar Heretic, a Baker is responsible for producing bread and other baked goods in accordance with our recipes. Reports to the Kitchen Operations Manager.
Prepares bread, focaccia, rolls and other baked goods
Follows proper proofing and baking techniques for each variety of bread
Maintains a clean and sanitary food production area according to Department of Health standards
Works towards mastering all shifts and production processes
Assists FOH café team in counter setup if needed and engages with guests interested in learning about our products
~ Performs other duties as required or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ year of experience in a baker preparation position
• Basic math and measuring skills
• Strong work ethic, communication and time management skills
• Post-secondary culinary program highly preferred

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Availability to work onsite with an open, flexible schedule often including early mornings and weekends Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting Ability to work with a deck oven, electric convection oven and commercial spiral mixer Food Handler’s License preferred
