Public Health Nutritionist I

New Jersey's academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Aligned with Rutgers University‑New Brunswick and collaborating university wide, RBHS includes eight schools, a behavioral health network, and five centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research, neuroscience, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research.

Provide training, mentorship and clinical supervision to Nutritionist II RDs as needed to provide evidence‑based, safe nutritional care.

Obtain patient nutrition histories.

Assess the nutrition status and specific nutritional needs of individual patients.

Discuss specific needs of the individual patient with the physician and recommend appropriate medical nutrition therapy.

Develop nutrition care plans to meet the needs of individual patient.

Counsel patients and/or their caretakers regarding medical nutrition therapy.

Graduate from an accredited college with a Master’s Degree in nutritional science or a Bachelor’s Degree plus successful completion of an approved dietetic internship or coordinated undergraduate program to obtain Registered Dietitian credential.

Three (3) years professional experience in dietetics or nutrition of which one (1) year of clinical nutrition experience or pediatric nutrition experience is preferred.

A Registration.

Bilingual in Spanish is an asset.
